Wessex Pincushion

After a lovely holiday, in Munich (my birthplace) and Banbury, England, (where my son lives), I am back on the farm. Suitcases are unpacked and everything is back to normal. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by....

I added some fantasy bullion flowers to the design. (I love to mix techniques)

More Wessex items

Hello you all

I see from my visitor counter that a lot of you are finding my blog by searching for Wessex Stitchery in your browsers. Quite a few of you have kept returning over the past few weeks looking at the
 wessex embroidery entry.

I am planning on adding more information, patterns and maybe a mini tutorial in the near future. Ladies, please leave a comment if you are looking for anything specific on the subject. Or why not email me? I would love to know what you are interested in, and I would love to get comments .......

There won't be much time to blog over the next four weeks as I am going away for a while. During that time I will be working on a little wessex pincushion which I will hopefully be able to show you in the first week October.

I hope to hear from you soon, enjoy your stitching

Petra

Wessex Embroidery

is a very old type of embroidery which is thought to have originated in medieval England.

It is made up of a sort of counted background motive which is then woven with another thread to form little flowers.

I decided to make a little needle book and team the Wessex embroidery with some of my own ideas.
It is worked on 28ct evenweave fabric.

I used variegated Chameleon threads and added some petite beads around the border as well as a little verse on the back of the booklet
.

Feel free to print and use the pattern below. Please bear with me, I am still learning about adding photos to my blog. Below is a scanned copy of the design. I have no idea how to convert designs out of EasyCross to put up on my blog yet. Will practice though.

Enjoy your stitching.....:)
